Eightcages are iron sarcophagus, that the World Eaters use to swell the ranks of the Eightbound.[1]

Description

To do so, particularly savage Berzerkers are chained within the Eightcages and then have Berzerker-surgeons interface their Butcher's Nails with probes and needles. This thrusts the Berzerkers' minds into the depths of the Warp, where they must battle for their very soul. How this occurs varies greatly, as some will battle atop impossible mountains of skulls, while others fight in nightmarish gore-soaked arenas. Some Berzerkers will even find themselves having to withstand the torture of sadistic Daemons. Those who are victorious in their challenges, will emerge from the sarcophagi as Eightbound, who are possessed by eight Daemons who fight to claim their souls. The Berzerkers who fail, however, meet with a worse fate. Some are simply reduced to a bloody mess that the Berzerker-Surgeons have to clean up, while others are mutated into Chaos Spawns. There also failed Berzerkers who simply vanish entirely from the Eightcages.[1]
