Flavius Gort was a Word Bearers Sorcerer Lord, in the Warband of Rutial Glinthar.[1a]

History

In M42, Glinthar sought to destroy[1a] the Voidrippers Warband[1b][1c], after they insulted the Word Bearers and defied the will of Abaddon the Despoiler, who he was allied with. The Sorcerer Lord knew the mindless Khorne worshipers were located in the Caligari Sector's Gwaelod System, but its location had been hidden by the Caligari Conclave's Inquisitors. However he believed that House Ranieli would have such proscribed knowledge, as they were the premier Navigator House in the Caligari Sector and had a reputation of often aiding the Conclave. This led Glinthar to raid Ranieli's Starport with his Word Bearers, to find the Gwaelod System's location within the House's information stored there. The Warband then overwhelmed the Starport's defenders, but they were able to inform House Ranieli of the attack, before contact was lost with the Starport.[1a]

Before the Word Bearers began searching it, for a Warp Folio that contained the Gwaelod System's location, Glinthar split his Warband into three groups. Their mission was a surgical strike, so the Sorcerer Lord would prepare their escape, while Gort searched for the Warp Folio. Fraziel Urth, would act as the Warband's rearguard and Glinthar warned him to expect the Caligari Conclave to intervene on House Ranieli's behalf. This proved to be correct, as had Ranieli pleaded for aid from the Conclave, who in turn then sent one of its Inquisitors to investigate and prevent the House's stored knowledge from being stolen. Urth and his forces were then slain by the Inquisitor, who attacked Gort's forces next. He would defeat them, before confronting the Sorcerer Lord, who at that time, had found the Warp Folio that contained the Gwaelod System's location. A lamenting Gort told the Inquisitor it was a shame they were fighting each other. Though the Sorcerer Lord knew he would not be believed, he told the Inquisitor that the Folio would allow the Word Bearers to bring justice to those who deserve it. Their efforts would also aid the Imperium's pitiful cause as well. As he predicted, however, the Inquisitor refused to believe Gort's words and the Sorcerer Lord stated that was regretful, as they sought vengeance and blood. Concepts the Inquisitor and his despotic Emperor would be familiar with. This enraged the Inquisitor, who told Gort he had heard enough of the Sorcerer Lord's lies before attacking him. Gort would meet his ends at the Inquisitor's hands, who collected the Warp Folio before moving on to find the rest of Glinthar's Warband.[1a]
