Gorgon Armoured Assault Transport

This article is about the Gorgon Armoured Assault Transport; for the other uses, see Gorgon (disambiguation). |
The Gorgon Armoured Assault Transport is a heavily-armored trench warfare vehicle designed to transport a large number of troops across no man's land. Designed specifically for this mission, the Gorgon has limited utility in other roles and is used primarily by siege regiments, most notable the Death Korps of Krieg.[1]
Tactical Role
The Gorgon is a specialist vehicle useful for and assigned only to carefully-selected missions where only short distances need be crossed, such as delivering troopers to a breach during a siege, and only after the enemy has been well suppressed by artillery. An entire platoon of fifty Guardsmen can be crammed into the Gorgon's armoured hull, typically prior to the assault from behind friendly lines, and be delivered right onto the enemy's doorstep in relative safety. Gorgons are not routinely assigned frontline duty except for major assaults and because of their large, cumbersome size they are almost never fielded on an open battlefield.[1]
Technical Specifications
The Gorgon is an immense vehicle with a heavily-armoured ramp in its prow, allowing the embarked troops to directly assault the enemy's defenses. Its sheer length allows it to cross trenches easily, and its amphibious nature allows it to double as an assault landing craft, capable of traversing rivers with little difficulty. As it is designed to traverse short distances its passenger hold lacks even basic comforts, and despite its size it requires only a crew of three, a driver and two gunners. Each gunner mans a twin-linked Heavy Stubber turret in the rear of the vehicle and can remotely control the fore- and rear-facing sponson weapons, either Heavy Stubbers, Heavy Bolters, Heavy Flamers or Mortars.[1]
The vehicle can also be modified with Camo Netting, Extra Armour, a Hunter-Killer Missile, a Searchlight, Track Guards and Smoke Launchers.[1]
