Helena the Virtuous is an Imperial Saint[3], who was once the Prioress of the Adepta Sororitas's Convent Sanctorum.[4]

Biography

She was raised in the Schola Progenium on Ophelia VII, where Helena was remarkably gifted in her youth. After 30 years of service in the Order of the Key, she was raised to Canoness[2] and was responsible for an increase in the power of the Ecclesiarchy. This was responsible for Helena being the hand-picked successor to become the Prioress of the Convent Sanctorum, after the death of the previous Prioress. She would come to wield the Rod of Grace[1] and a sacred sword[3], although Helena was not trained as a warrior. Despite this, she was known to personally intervene in battles, which allowed Helena to fully display her keen mind and tactical abilities.[2]

Helena eventually died of unknown causes and was later declared an Imperial Saint. Her remains and sacred relics were buried in a shrine, bearing her name, on the Hive World Acheron IV. When the Ork Warlord Uggrot's Waaagh! later invaded Acheron IV, Canoness Verena Armenii, of the Order of the Argent Shroud, led a battlehost of her Sisters to Helena's shrine, to recover any of Saint's remains. Upon their arrival in the shrine's ruins, the Sisters were soon attacked by an overwhelming Ork force and it was only the discovery of Helena's sacred sword that turned the tide of the battle. As the remnants of the Sisters' force fought the Orks, Seraphim Superior Camille used the sacred blade to kill Warboss Grog Chewtops. His death caused the Orks to retreat and saved what remained of the battlehost[3]. Along with her sword, Helena's Rod of Grace was also recovered and has since become a relic of the Adepta Sororitas.[4]

A reliquary containing Saint Helena's relics was once held on Tathyan's Reach. However after the Great Rift's creation, the world was besieged by the hordes of the Sorrowsinger. During the subsequent War of Sorrows, however, the forces of Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quintus came to Tathyan's Reach aid. As the two sides clashed, the Fleet's 884th Cadian Armoured Regiment later saved the reliquary. Thanks to the 884th Cadian's efforts, the Reliquary of Saint Helena was safely evacuated, though, its present location is unknown.[5]
