Igmus Lothar is a Traitor Commissar of the Styxx 777th Warwolves, Traitor Guard Regiment.[1b]

History

Like all of the Styxx 777th, Lothar was once loyal to the Imperium[1b], until they were sent to reinforce the Imperial world Moroch in M42. This was as the Imperium was preparing for Abaddon the Despoiler's hordes, as they bore down upon Moroch and the other worlds of the Gorandahl Sub-sector. The Black Legion became aware of this, however, and its Sorcerers determined which Regiments would be sent to reinforce the Sub-sector. This information was then given to the Alpha Legion, whose Human agents infiltrated the targeted Regiments and began corrupting them to serve the Black Legion. The Styxx and other Regiments being sent to Moroch were infiltrated and successfully rotted from the inside out.[1a]

Though Lothar had been a staunch Commissar, his inherent lust for cruelty won over his faith and he joined the Styxx 777th in their Heresy[1b]. When Moroch's reinforcements finally reached the world, they had all been fully corrupted by the Alpha Legion and were now loyal to the Black Legion[1a]. Lothar himself had risen in the Styxx 777th's ranks and became the most zealous of Traitor General Seriadne Hekht's Traitor Lieutenants. He was also given a Chaos Ogryn, named Drudge, who served as his bodyguard and was also made Hekht's chief enforcer, which gave Lothar ample opportunity to vent his sadistic urges[1b]. It was days after arriving on Moroch, that the Traitor Guard revealed their treachery and began their attack to overthrow the Imperium's rule on the world. This would greatly aid the Black Legion, when its hordes invaded the Gorandahl Sub-sector and the Traitor Guard soon surrounded Moroch's capital Magnificentia[1a]. However a single Phobos Strike Team, led by Infiltrator Sergeant Justarian, was sent to aid the besieged world. The Vanguard Space Marines then began attacking the world's outposts, that were held by the Traitor Guard. The attacks soon forced the Regiment's Traitor Generals to respond, by sending Blooded Kill Teams to wipe out Justarian's Strike Team. These were led by their Lieutenants and General Hekht selected Lothar to lead a Kill Team, due to his zealously and, she hoped, loyalty to her. The Traitor Commissar would call it Lothar's Jackals, but he did not lead them in immediately hunting down and attacking the Vanguard Marines. Instead he had the Jackals secretly watch Justarian's Strike Team, as they carried out their attacks on the outposts and easily dealt with the Blooded Kill Teams that found them.[1b]

The Jackals bade their time, until Lothar was sure their attack would gain him glory and renown from the Chaos Gods, instead of death[1b]. That moment came when the Phobos Strike Team, attacked Outpost Furia-Epsil VII and were engaged in battle with its Traitor Guard garrison. Justarian had brought half his Strike Team for the attack and they were well within the Outpost, when Lothar's Jackals moved to launch their ambush against them[1c]. Though one of the Vanguard's spotted the Blooded Kill Team and attacked before they could get into position, the Jackals outnumbered the Strike Team and were prepared to fight the Strike Team. In the fierce battle that followed, Justarian and the Vanguards eventually gained the upper hand and forced Lothar to order his Blooded Kill Team to retreat. Though the Traitor Commissar and some of his Jackals managed to escape, the Strike Team had killed many of its members. However the Blooded Kill Team's ferocity had left several Vanguards laying dead in the Outpost as well. This was a dire blow to Justarin's Phobos Strike Team, as while Lothar's Jackals could easily find replacements for their losses, it was impossible for the Vanguards to do the same. The triumphant Traitor Commissar then willed Ka'rn that the next time the Jackals attacked the Vanguards, they would be able to kill them all.[1d]
