The Invasion of Nova Sulis was a battle during the Plague of Unbelief in 302.M36.[1]

Overview

During the first wars of the Plague of Unbelief, the Executioners were among the first Space Marine Chapters that took up arms against Cardinal Bucharis's splinter empire based on Gathalamor. In these battles, they fought alongside the Space Wolves, Angels of Absolution, and Raven Guard. However their most famous action during this time was the invasion and subsequent devastation of the Hive World of Nova Sulis. The greedy and wealthy water barons of Sulis had been eager supporters of the Apostasy, taking the Cardinal's stolen wealth in return for weapons produced in their Hives' factories.[1]

With the Space Wolves world of Fenris besieged by Bucharis's forces, it fell to the Executioners to handle the heresy of Nova Sulis. The invasion by the Executioners began with a heavy orbital bombardment against the worlds baronial estates and palaces, while their armored assault forces landed on its surface and swept through the factory districts, slaying everything that opposed them. The Executioners showed little mercy, and the planet's Hive Cities were devastated. The Executioners' wrath fell against any who opposed their rampage, be they PDF soldier, noble Priest, or Hive scum. After destroying the planet's production capabilities, the Executioners departed, leaving the severed heads of those they had killed skewered on spikes lining kilometer after kilometer along the streets of the world's primary Hive City. The planet suffered from wildfires, secondary explosions, and anarchy for years to come.[1]
