Jeshua Thoru[Note 1] was a sculptor who lived on the planet Verghast.[1]

Biography

Thoru was trained at the Scholam Lapidae in the hive city of Ferrozoica. By the time of the Siege of Vervunhive, however, he lived and worked in the Northern Foundry Collectives. Amongst his works in this time period were the frieze over the portico at the Imperial Hospice in NorthCol.[1]

At the age of 28, in the aftermath of the Siege of Vervunhive, Thoru was commissioned by Lady Merity Chass of House Chass to create an installation that would honour the Imperial victory at Vervunhive, with specific aims to commemorate the hive's defenders (most notably the Tanith First regiment) and memorialise those who died in the Siege. To this end he interviewed a number of Tanith Guardsmen, including Colonel Corbec, who decided to have Thoru tag along with a unit of Tanith engaged in cleanup operations in the outhabs.[1]

At one point in the Tanith patrol, they were fired on by enemy troops. During the resulting firefight, Thoru was able to clear a jam from Trooper Brostin's flamer, enabling him to break the deadlock that they were stuck in. Later in the fight, Thoru witnessed Trooper Mktag's death.[1]

After the Imperial Guard left Verghast, Thoru returned to NorthCol and eventually completed his memorial to Vervunhive, which went on to become his most celebrated work.[1]
