The Kieldar Offensive was a major offensive launched by the Imperial Guard against the rebellious world of Kieldar after it had declared independence from the Imperium in 956.M41.[1]

Overview

The rebellion began with a formal declaration of independence from the Imperium by the rulers of Kieldar. Shortly thereafter those deemed a threat to the new independent order of Kieldar - members of the Ecclesiarchy and officers from nearby Cadia were executed. But unknown to the rebels, an Astropath of the Cadian delegation was able to send word to the Adeptus Terra of Kieldar's uprising. Fearing that the rebellion would spread to nearby vital Agri Worlds of the Dinorwyc Cluster, an Imperial Guard task force was assembled to crush the Rebellion.[1]

  • Days 1 to 7: three attempts to secure the drop site on the northern continent are defeated. By the forth the rebels had been driven from the beachhead.
  • Day 18: Armored assaults on the outer defensive line supported by Thunderbolt fighters inflicts heavy casualties on the rebels.
  • Days 20 to 24: Reconnaissance elements are destroyed whilst cutting enemy supply lines. Reports point to captured Guardsmen having been ritually sacrificed.
  • Days 25 to 40: Pyrrhic sieges of outlying enemy-held cities and trenches take place. The mission goal is that the taskforces should die slowly enough to prevent the enemy from reinforcing the stronghold. Presence of Daemons is reported.
  • Days 41 to 63: Unexpected victory by one of the besieging Taskforces allows the seizure of the Krokorax bastion from Chaos renegades and the advancement to enemy positions on Kieldar Darkridge.
  • Days 60 to 93: The Siege of Darkridge. The Darkridge Hold fortifications are reduced to rubble over thirty days of continuous air and artillery bombardment. Kieldar rebel defense units fall back before the infantry advance and enemy lines of retreat are cut. Kieldar returns to the control of the Imperium shortly thereafter.
