Lords of Aranthus

The Lords of Aranthus were an Ogryn outlaw gang which, according to legends, were originally the loyal bodyguards of one of the last surviving members of House Aranthus.[1]

It is said that as the virus destroyed her House, one of the last scions of Aranthus tried to escape it by fleeing with her Ogryn bodyguards into Hive Primus' Underhive. However she was still struck by the virus and she became deathly ill. As her loyal Ogryns surrounded her, the last scion told her bodyguards' Captain to, “defend House Aranthus until it is time to…” before she passed away. The Captain attempted to follow out this order and led the company-strong bodyguards in carving out a territory for their House in the Underhive. Over the course of a great cycle, the bodyguards became known as the Lords of Aranthus and their land became a haven for the dead House's servants and retainers.[1]

The Planetary Governor Helmawr at the time ignored the Lords at first, until they began gaining support among Necromunda's lower classes. This caused the Lords to become targeted and, in what became known as the Last Stand of House Aranthus, they were attacked by dozens of gangs, Bounty Hunters, Enforcers and Guilder agents. Though they and their allies killed scores of the attackers, the Lords were defeated and their territory was lost.[1]

While it is believed the Ogryns were all killed in the battle, rumors persist that the Captain and a few of the bodyguards escaped into the wastes. They are believed to be still there, searching for a true heir to the lost House of Aranthus.[1]
