The Massacre of Kormarg was a battle fought by the Imperium in 718.M38, concluding a two-century siege of the planet of Kormarg II.[1]

Overview

By late M39 the Fortress World of Kormarg II on the edge of the Sakkara Sector had been besieged for more than two hundred years by Khrave Marauders. Against all odds Kormarg had held out, but in the process had been laid to waste. It eventually fell to the Star Phantoms Space Marines to relieve the desperate world, their fleet attacking the Xenos nest-webs in orbit and blasting them apart with concentrated fire. Once they had scattered the xenos ships, the Star Phantoms launched a Drop Pod assault on the surface, crushing the Khrave feasters between the extensive Kormarg bastion defenses and their own ground forces. After a vicious battle, the xenos were annihilated.[1]

As the people of Kormarg threw open their gates to welcome their liberators, it quickly became apparent to the Star Phantoms that the human garrison had become genetically and spiritually corrupt during their years of battling the aliens. The Chapter Master of the Star Phantoms was swift in his judgement, entering the Kormarg bastions and massacring their denizens. Afterwards, the Chapter's Servitors sang prerecorded hymns to honour their martyrdom as the Star Phantoms burnt the bodies. Shortly after the massacre, Kormarg II was re-settled as a Departmento Munitorum Penal World.[1]
