Mephidast the Plaguereaver[1]

Mephidast, also known as Mephidast the Plaguereaver is a Daemon Prince of Nurgle. He is known as the artisan of a thousand plagues and commands a mighty warhost of frenzied Daemons, Plague Marines, and Cultists.[1]

History

According to legend, Mephidast was born of mortal flesh centuries ago. The man that would become Mephidast became obsessed with mutilation and disease and ironically became an Adept of the Officio Medicae. Mutilated corpses and mass-poisonings became ever-frequent. Finally caught by the local authorities, he was locked away in a dark dungeon and slowly began to lose his sanity from the isolation. Beginning to scrawl on the walls of shapes and glyphs that simply came from his "imagination", he eventually began to understand these markings were not from his own mind but were a calling from a higher power. As his devotion to these messages increased his body grew despite his malnourishment. Over time, the influence of corruptive nature rotted away the bars of his cell. Escaping from his prison, he unleashed a rampage of Warp-empowered biological warfare that overwhelmed local Medicae authorities. Eventually, the entire world died under plague and illness. His patron satisfied, Mephidast gained the Plague God's favor, became a Champion of Chaos, and was able to leave the dead world. He went on an unholy journey to spread the will of Nurgle.[1]

On his journey, Mephidast had no need for conquest, spreading the influence of Nurgle through disease is his only goal. He has nurtured mass infestations of Zombie Plague in Hive cities and created Blight Grenades from the infected remains of Ministorum officials. Journeying within the Warp Storm known as the Hadex Anomaly, Mephidast led a horde of Nurgle acolytes and Daemons against a Khornate warband. Emerging victorious and claiming the Daemon World for Nurgle, this proved to be his final step in his ascension. Nurgle elevated Mephidast to Daemonhood and the conquered world became his domain. Now immortal, Mephidast has begun to turn his wrath on the Imperium and has become a chief enemy in the Achilus Crusade.[1]

Mephidast is also known to have taken part in the Siege of Terra.[2]
