Mondus Occulam
Mondus Occulam was a Forge Temple in the Tharsis region of Mars.[1a]
History
Mondus Occulam covered hundreds of square kilometres between Tharsis Tholus and Ceraunius Tholus. At the time of the Horus Heresy, Mondus Occulam was one of the largest and most productive Forge Temples on Mars, surpassed only by Olympus Mons in size. As a result, Forge Master Kane was Fabricator Locum of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the immediate subordinate to Fabricator-General Kelbor-Hal. Like many Forges on Mars at that time, it was geared for war production, but Mondus Occulam exclusively focused on the armouries of the Adeptus Astartes, forging weapons and power armour for the Legiones Astartes across the galaxy. To better ferry supplies, Mondus Occulam possessed three Tsiolkovsky towers which transported cargo directly into orbit. In addition to arming the Legiones Astartes, Mondus Gamma was also a place where legionaries could be trained to become Techmarines; Forge Master T'kell of the Salamanders Legion was one such Techmarine trained at Mondus Occulam. Only Lukas Chrom's Mondus Gamma forge could replicate the quality of Mondus Occulam's work, but even Mondus Gamma could not match Mondus Occulam for quantity.[1a]
During the Death of Innocence , Mondus Occulam was one of the few Forges that escaped total collapse when the scrapcode unleashed from Olympus Mons infected the information highways.[1b] During the Schism of Mars, elements of the Imperial Fists Legion under First Captain Sigismund made planetfall at Mondus Occulam to secure its weapons and armour supplies, where they managed to evacuate over twelve thousand suits of Mark IV armour and twice the number of weapons. However, despite Kane's protests that they had to save the Forge, Sigismund ordered Mondus Occulam evacuated when over sixty Titans of the Dark Mechanicum began attacking the Forge, forcefully evacuating Kane.[1c]
