Motulu is an Imperial Ocean World, that contains chains of volcanic jungle islands, and it is also the Homeworld of the Excruciators Chapter.[1]

Overview

In the world's orbit lies the moon Kobolt and an Astropathic Relay Station. It has relatively little land for its population to live upon and has a tumultuous climate. This leaves Motulu to be prone to great tempests and volcanic eruptions. The people there hold immense spiritual significance for their Home System, Gildras. Each of its worlds and features represent an element and serve a deep purpose in Motulu's mythology: The Pyre of Mahu'it is the world of Fire, The Cradle of Sinotuan is the world of Earth, The Rage of Rongowaqa the world of Water and the phenomenon known as The Wheel of Phaatuo represents Air. Motulu, with its tumultuous storms and volcanic jungle islands, represents all at once. These cultural beliefs have also been incorporated by the Excruciators Chapter as well.[1]

During the Charadon Campaign, the Gildras System became a beleaguered safe haven, which the Excruciators watched over.[1]
