Nar Kezar is a Chaos Lord and Prince of the Pure Warband, which was once the Star Scorpions Chapter until they became lost in the Warp.

History

Though the Imperium thought they had died, the Chapter was trapped in the Warp and remained there until the creation of the Great Rift freed them. When they emerged back into their domain of Elara's Veil, Kezar and the Star Scorpions had been fully corrupted by the forces of Chaos. They still thought themselves loyal to the Imperium though and returned to their homeworld, Khamun-Sen, to regrow their numbers and resume their duties of protecting the worlds of the Veil. However, their Brother Chapters of the Emperor's Spears and Celestial Lions discovered the Heresy that now marked the Scorpions and attacked them. This ultimately led Kezar and his brethren to rename themselves the Pure and to begin a war of conquest against the Imperial worlds of the Veil. Sometime later during their invasion, Kezar commanded the warship Venatrix Candidus, when it began being pursued by the Spears' Strike Cruiser, Hex. However, the Venatrix was able to ambush the Hex in turn and the Warband boarded it and took several prisoners before fleeing the stricken Strike Cruiser. Among the prisoners was Lieutenant Commander Incarius of the Mentors Chapter, who Kezar took a personal interest in.[Needs Citation]

This was because the Mentors had been created to replace the Star Scorpions, after their disappearance and Kezar began interrogating Incarius for information about his Chapter. The Commander refused to talk, however, despite the horrific tortures Kezar committed against him. Though the Chaos Lord knew he would break Incarius down in time, the pursing Hex did not allow this to happen. The Strike Cruiser had begun pursuing the Venatrix after the Pure's raid, and its crew had coordinated with other Imperial warships in the Veil to attack the Chaos warship. While the Venatrix had been able to evade their attacks for a while, the Celestial Lions' Strike Cruiser, Blade of the Seventh Son, finally ended the chase by ramming the warship. This allowed the Son and Hex's Space Marines to board the Venatrix[1a] and free their captured comrades. The Pure's forces aboard the Venatrix were all killed in the attack, save for Kezar himself, who was captured for interrogation aboard the Hex.[1b]

According to Anuradha Daaz, Nar Kezar eventually escaped his captivity and unleashed great horrors upon the Emperor's Spears.[1c]
