Saul Niborran[3]

Saul Niborran[2] was a Saturn-born Lord General of the Imperial Army, during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, who was raised in the disciplines of the Saturnine Ordos.[1][2a]

Biography

By the time the Heresy began, Niborran was a veteran of war having served the Imperium for a 150 years. Due to the venerable General's skills, he was chosen by the Primarch Rogal Dorn to serve as High Primary Solar General in the Solar Command Staff as the Imperium prepared to defend Terra from Horus' treachery. He was known to have Dorn's complete confidence and during the Solar Command's meetings, Niborran would be chosen to speak the words, the Primarch could not. He was so favoured by Dorn, that the General was given command of several hundreds of millions of Imperial Army and Militia units on Terra, when the Solar War began.[1] Later as the Lion's Gate Spaceport fell, Niborran's colleague Militant Colonel Clement Brohn panicked and bemoaned the state of the defenses. Jaghatai Khan flew into a rage and ordered that Brohn be expelled from the Bhab Bastion. When Niborran rose to Brohn's defense, he too was expelled by The Khan.[2] Burned out by the rigors of serving in the Bhab Bastion, and with the Siege of Terra going poorly for the Imperium, Nibboran and Brohn chose to place their names on the list for active duty. The War Courts assigned Nibboran as zone command for the Eternity Wall Spaceport.[2a]

Dorn regretted an officer of Niborran's experience and skill being treated in such a way, and when he discovered that the General had be reassigned to oversee defenses at the doomed Spaceport, dispatched his Huscarl Cadwalder to retrieve him before the complex was overrun. However despite knowing the truth, Niborran refused to leave and Cadwalder instead accompanied him as he oversaw the defenses alongside Shiban Khan, Camba Diaz, and Jenetia Krole.[2a] When Angron delivered his order for the defenders of the Port to surrender, Niborran responded by having the gun-batteries of the facility open up on the Traitor Primarch.[2b] As the Port fell to a massive World Eaters assault, Niborran and Cadwalder died fighting off hordes of traitor Astartes together.[2c]
