Nurgle's Cauldron is a relic of the Chaos God Nurgle and was created from a piece of the Plague Father.[1]

Description

As a creation of the Warp, it was not tied to the Realspace and the Cauldron had the ability to change its size. This was either done by itself or by the will of those the relic was loaned to. The Cauldron could also never be filled and no matter what was poured into the relic, the mixture will never spill out on its own.[1]

History

The Cauldron is tied into the birth of the Great Unclean One Ku'Gath, as he fell into it from Nurgle's shoulder. At that time, the Chaos God was using the Cauldron to create his most virulent toxin ever, which was consumed by Ku'Gath. This caused the former Nurgling to become a Great Unclean One, but also filled him with despair for having destroyed Nurgle's greatest work.[1]

Ku'Gath was later given the honor of using the Cauldron, when he agreed to aid the Daemon Primarch Mortarion in starting the Plague Wars. The Cauldron was the epicentre of all of Nurgle's efforts within the Realm of Ultramar and the lynchpin of Mortarion's scheme to bring Ultramar into the Chaos God's Garden. After Ku'Gath's Plague Guard invaded Iax, the Cauldron was placed within a medicae facility and from its depths Nurgle's foulness began to spill out. The Chaos God's power then poured into the network of Warp fissures, generated by infernal devices created by Mortarion and began to spread all across the world's of Ultramar. In order for it to be effective, though, the Cauldron needed to be kept under a lit fire and have large amounts of rotted material dropped into it. The Cauldron also needed to be constantly stirred with a giant wooden spoon, which was normally done by Ku'Gath himself.[1]
