The Polarists are a faction within the Imperium who trace their origins to the monograph written by Eparch Kvander.

History

This faction believe in the polarity between Human and Psyker. Though they believe in the Emperor being divine and transcendent, it is said that the only way Humans and Psykers can meet is at the Godhead as He holds Mankind and witchery in His hands as proof of his godhood. However, this group believe that any mortal who is a mixture between a Psyker and a Human is a mockery. Thus, the Polarists feel that it is their duty to enforce the polarity between the two. They believe that if a person is a Human than they can pray, act and talk as a Human. But if they are a Psyker, than they are fit for that single role and thus must be bereft of all Humanity. Those Astropaths that are within the hands of a Polarist face being trepanned and lobotomised whereupon they are reduced to being little more than a psychic Servitor.

Polarists feel that those Psykers that have their brains burnt out by the Soul Binding are the pure ones as they feel that is what the Emperor intended for them. Whilst those that survive it intact and become both strong as well as proud are seen as being abberations who must face the polarity by being forcibly reduced to being little more than an instrument controlled by its master devoid of all feeling. Those that face this act are said to barely able to perform a choir and that ciphers are placed within their head allowing others to control them as if they are a musical organ. In such a state, they are treated just as a servitor is treated and the Polarists feel that this is the correct course of action as it is what the Emperor intended for Psykers. Those that face this fate are said to be incapable of performing even a millionth of the work other psykers are capable of with their complete mind.

The message of the group was later spread by the Missionaria Galaxia which led to it being accepted by members of the Imperial Navy and Ecclesiarchy on Chiros. It is said that the Inquisition has faced a growing corruption by the beliefs of the Polarists with a commander of a Black Ship being said to be one of their members. There are even some followers within the Adeptus Astropathica itself.[1]
