Priad was an Iron Snakes Captain, who took part in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. Prior to that, he was known for his battles against Daemons, Orks and the Drukhari.[1b]

History

During the Crusade, the Iron Snakes were victorious on Ambold, Fornax Aleph and Presarius. After their victory there, however, Warmaster Macaroth required them to be separated by squadrons in order to best aid his battle plans. Priad's Damocles Squad would then join the Warmaster, as Macaroth attempted to reclaim Urdesh. Joining the Captain, would be the squadrons of Erasmos, Platonos and Kalliopi, and they all fought together against the Sons of Sek who had invaded the Forge World[1b]. The Warmaster had great respect for the Iron Snakes, and he would make requests for their aid, instead of ordering them to do so. Priad would honor these requests, but this relationship diminished, in the later years of the war.[1c]

The Warmaster had originally taken his forces to Urdesh, in the hopes of directly confronting the Sons of Sek's master, Anakwanar Sek. As the years wore on, though, it seemed unlikely to Macaroth's command group, that Sek was still on the Forge World. The Warmaster becoming increasingly reclusive at this time, to the point that his Generals were left to wage the war on their own. This in turn[1a], led the Iron Snakes to be issued orders to follow, instead of the requests that Macaroth usually made[1c]. It was this current relationship, in the 10th year of the war[1a], that led one of the Warmaster's Generals to order Priad and his Damocles Squad to serve as bodyguards for the reincarnated Imperial Saint Sabbat. The Captain agreed to this, but said his squadron would protect the Saint and not control her. Priad was true to his words and the squadron protected the Saint, when she later became tired of being a kept figurehead and instead wanted to directly fight the Sons of Sek.[1c]
