The Psychoterica are ancient psychic Xenos devices that hold the gestalt consciousness of Necromunda's extinct Delaque species.^[1]

History

The Delaque resided on Necromunda, when it was covered in oceans. They existed besides other aquatic sentient species, who worshiped giant monstrous creatures they called the Silent Ones. However an unknown calamity struck and caused the world's oceans to sink beneath its surface. As Necromunda's aquatic species began to die, the Delaque sought to save the Silent Ones. They discovered some of the oceans water, had formed underground seas and built one for their gods. After placing the slumbering Silent Ones within the city, the Delaque then began seeking ways to achieve immortally as well. This led them to create the Psychoterica, which have a psychic echo of the Delaque's gestalt consciousness and are also linked to the Silent Ones' minds. These devices were then placed within stones upon Necromunda's surface. With their goals complete, the Delaque and all of Necromunda's sentient species died, when its oceans disappeared.^[1]

Thousands of years later, Humans colonized Necromunda and Hive Primus was built above the Silent Ones' city. In time, the Imperium claimed the world and in in 876.M36, a plague of dream sickness struck Necromunda, after the rogue world Somnus closely passed its orbit. The plague caused dream visions and caused a few of Hive Primus' population to travel to its Underhive. They did so to find something there and when at last the plague went away, a whole group of people had gathered together. This group discovered a number of Psychoterica and they became psychically linked to the Delaque's gestalt consciousness. This permanently awakened their minds to the Xenos' ancient memories and also altered the Humans' thoughts. They now shared a consciousness with each other and could use it to sense their own kind, as well as, communicate their feelings and ideas. In the years to come, they would be joined by thousands of others who had seen the dream sickness' visions as well. These people eventually became House Delaque and the visions that brought them to the Psychoterica, had been sent across time and space by the original Delaque Xenos. The House continues to search for more of the Psychoterica, which have been dug up from the Necromunda's Ash Wastes, found within ancient stones, or dredged up from the bottom depths of Hive Primus' Sump.^[1]
