Its shimmering with the promise of great power, and the Whisper's presence induces heretical madness. Anyone near its vicinity becomes influenced by the statue and the Whisper also contaminates its very surroundings. This was discovered by an ancient Xenos civilization on Siscia, who found the statue and gave the Whisper its name. As its corruption spread, the civilization tried to rid themselves of it, but no matter what the Xenos did, the Whisper could not be destroyed. In the end, the Xenos were forced to place the statue in a deep well of water within the most sacred temple to their gods. The temple was then sealed and the civilization placed numerous warnings of the Whisper's presence and its corruption nearby. Millennia later, the Xenos civilization was gone and Siscia became colonized by the Imperium.[1]

The world's population mined the world for Promethium, which required it to have lots of sources of water for its population. In the course of searching for a new source on Siscia, though, the Imperials discovered the temple. They were unable to read the ancient Xenos civilization's warnings and after opening the temple, they discovered its well. By then, the Whisper had fully corrupted the water within it, however, and those who drank from the temple's well became thralls of the statue. These corrupted Imperials then formed a Slaanesh Chaos Cult and sought to spread the Whisper's corruption. Led by Crea, the Cult grew larger and soon began an uprising to gain control of Siscia's only city in M42. Sometime later, an Order of Our Martyred Lady strike force arrived to end the rebellion, which had nearly gained control of the world. As the Adepta Sororitas forces landed, however, the Cult had already succeeded in spreading the corrupted water throughout the city's pipe network. On Crea's orders, the water was unleashed and the city's thirsting population rushed to drink it. They all became corrupted as a result and began to aid the Cult in fighting the Sororitas. However the Martyred Lady prevailed and after reading the Xenos' warnings, the Whisper was located within the temple. It was then recovered by the Inquisition and was secured in a secret location. The Whisper was later among the Chaos relics, that Inquisitor Malapax wrote reports on.[1]
