Recorder of the Rolls

The Recorder of the Rolls is a Scribe who accompanies Lord Commander Guilliman, during ceremonies and writes down his words in the Lord's personal copy of the Index Astartes.[1]

Description

Due to its massive size, though, Guilliman's Index Astartes is carried by a group of Imperials known as the Index Bearers. When the Recorder services are needed, the Bearers carry out not only the Index, but also a large stand to hold it, as well as a small table to put the Recorder's needed bottles of ink and numerous pens on. The Recorder will then cast a critical eye over everything's placement and if it meets with their approval, the Bearers will reverently open the Index to a blank page. When all is ready, the Recorder will signal to Lord Commander Guilliman that they are ready, to record his words. When the Lord Commander oversees the Founding of new Chapters, the Recorder will not only write down Guilliman's words, but also the reason why the Chapter was formed. The Recorder will also record its officers' oaths to serve the Imperium, their personal heraldries and the Chapter's symbol. Once the ceremony is over, the Index Bearers will carry the Index and everything else away, until it is needed again. The information the Recorder wrote about a Chapter's Founding, will then be Astropathetically sent throughout the entire Imperium, so that it can be recorded in other copes of the Index Astartes. The Recorder of the Rolls and the Index Bearers also conducted their duties, over the course of the Indomitus Crusade and were stationed within Guilliman's Indomitus Crusade Fleet Primus.[1]
