Sandran is a Dead World, located within the Ghoul Stars, which once belonged to the Imperium.[1]

History

Before its demise, Sandran's population was constantly attacked by groups of Flayed Necrons, who would suddenly materialize on the world and begin killing its population. Even buildings offered no guaranteed protection from the Xenos, as the Flayed could appear within them as well. However despite this, the Xenos would always disappear after a time and generations of Sandran's population learned to live with the fear of not knowing when the Flayed would attack. Years could pass between the attacks and some of Sandran's population would eventually develop superstitions they believed aided in warding off the Xenos. This included not causing any violence amongst themselves, lest it attract the Flayed's notice to their world.[1]

In late M41, though, Sandran was invaded by a large number of the Flayed, who unexpectedly did not disappear. Instead, the Xenos continuously hunted and butchered the world's population, at a scale not seen before. Soon Sandran began to be overwhelmed and the Death Spectres Chapter was sent to combat the Xenos and evacuate any survivors they could find. Even as they did so, however, their Chapter Master had also charged them with finding suitable members of Sandran's population, that could be placed in the Chapter's Breeding Worlds. Those who were selected. were then forcibly taken away by the Chapter. As the fighting continued, however, the Death Spectres could not defeat the Flayed and the decision was made to perform an Exterminatus upon Sandran. With the order given, the Chapter then evacuated with the last of the world's population they could save, before Sandran was destroyed.[1]
