Targetdrone.gif This article is about the Chaos Cult; for the Chaos Space Marine Warband, see Shriven (Warband).

The Shriven were once workers on the Forge World of Fortis Binary, however they were corrupted by Chaos. They were described as elaphantine, with long, nozzled gas masks sewn into their faces. They wore rubberised green body armour and the protective garb of their former workplace. Their armour was decorated with eye-aching symbols of Chaos.[1a]

The Shriven had no qualms about the use of poison agents, foul airborne gases that would boil the blood and fester the lungs.[1a]

They used rusty iron spikes, once used to manipulate the hoppers of molten ore in the forge works, to impale their victims through the chest. They also cut off the hands and feet of their victims.[1b]

The Shriven had erected Chaos altars at regular intervals into the trenches system of the battleground and each blackened factory bunker, storehouse and forge tower.[1c]

Notes

It is possible that the Shriven venerated Nurgle in particular out of the Gods of Chaos - the network of ritual stones they erected in the hills of Fortis Binary consisted of a set of seven[1d] (Nurgle's favoured number) and their use of toxic gas and biological weapons suggest this.[1a]
