Siege of Pallia

The Siege of Pallia was a clash between the Imperium and the Tau Empire in late M41.[1]

The Imperial forces included a detachment from the Ultramarines Chapter, and the most notable event was Veteran Sergeant Torias Telion's uncanny pair of shots with his Stalker-pattern boltgun, killing the Commander and the Ethereal of the Tau invasion force at extreme range. For this feat, Telion earned two of his dozen Marksman's Honour badges, a rare thing to occur during a single engagement.[1]

Trivia

Telion's feat appears parallel to a famous pair of shots fired by British Rifleman Thomas Plunket at the Battle of Cacabelos, during the Napoleonic Wars. Not only did Plunkett score a kill shot on French General Auguste Colbert, he scored a second shot on one of Colbert's aides, just to prove that the first shot wasn't a fluke. Both shots were fired at an estimated range of 600-800 yards, well beyond the official effective range of Plunkett's weapon, a Baker flintlock rifle.
