Anselm Sirus[1b] was a Captain of the Eighth Pardus Armoured regiment and commander of the Leman Russ Conqueror Wrath of Pardua.[1a]

Biography

Among the Eighth Pardus, some thought Sirus to be a bravado-seeking glory hound. None denied, however, that he was one of the regiment's best when it came to commanding a Conqueror - he was a confirmed multi-ace, with only fellow ace Captain Endre Woll of Old Strontium considered a potential equal. As a result, the two men were noted rivals.[1b]

Active during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Sirus was part of the honour guard assembled on Hagia that was ordered to retrieve the remains of Saint Sabbat from their resting place as part of an evacuation of Imperial forces from the planet.[1a]

When the honour guard reached the town of Bhavnager, the Imperials encountered fierce resistance from Infardi cultists.[1a][1b] However, given the strict timetable they were working on and with no guaranteed naval support, the guard were forced to fight to retake Bhavnager so that they could resupply and press on. Although the battle was hard, the Pardus and their Tanith allies seemed to have matters in hand until the cultists deployed a Baneblade Super Heavy Tank. Sirus, however, did not falter. Loading his cannon with augur shells, he led a suicidal attack that nonetheless punched a hole in the Baneblade's armour before the super-heavy blew the Wrath of Pardua apart and incinerated Sirus with one shot of its main gun. His sacrifice allowed Captain Woll and Old Strontium to destroy the Baneblade in turn.[1b]
