The Storming of Leckides was a battle during the Psychic Awakening.[1]

Overview

The battle was launched by the Space Wolves, who hoped to curb Ghazghkull's Great Waaagh!. The Ironwolves, Seawolves, and Deathwolves made planetfall with an emphasis on armor, bikes, and cavalry on the rad-drenched world of Leckides. Ordo Xenos intelligence had led the Wolves to Leckides. They had deduced that the Evil Sunz speed mob forces rampaging throughout the region were on the verge of reaching Ghazghkull and were determined to prevent their forces from joining his. The Wolves intended to carve the immense Evil Sunz speed mobs in two.[1]

Facing off against the enormous Battlewagon, Trukk, and Warbike formations of the Evil Sunz, the Wolves targeted a Battle Fortress in the center of the force larger than even a Baneblade. The Space Wolves knew that this was the Ork command vehicle and taking it out was essential. Land Raiders and Repulsors made up the outside edge of the Wolves attack, engaging the Orkish flanks. Behind this screen raced lighter vehicles, including the Ironwolves Predator squadron Freki's Fangs which cut through Ork Trukk formations. The scent of burning Ork flesh sent the Thunderwolf Cavalry of Aethlgrum Blodmane's pack into a frenzy and the Deathwolves beast leaped from warbike to warbike, crushing the Orks and tearing them to pieces. The initial attack hit the Orks like stone throws into a raging river, and the greenskins recovered with terrifying speed. Soon heavy Ironwolves vehicles such as the Repulsors Ice Fiend and Underfang were destroyed by rampaging Battlewagons. Ork aircraft shot down a full Land Speeder squadron. However the Wolves still made for the central energy-radiating Battle Fortress at the center of the Greenskin horde.[1]

A dozen Ork Psykers were chained to the Battle Fortress, shouting and raving. The forces they generated made nearby Orks more powerful and they launched psychic assaults on nearby Space Wolves vehicles. Nearby Wolves Rune Priests collapsed in agony before their heads ruptured. The surge of Orkish energy eventually reached its peak, and in a flash of green light the Orks vanished, leaving the battered Space Wolves with the sting of failure.[1]
