Sul Kontep[2a]

Sul Kontep was a line officer in the Thousand Sons Legion's Fifth Fellowship, during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]

History

He was present on Prospero, when the Imperium's Censure Host invaded to deliver judgement on his Primarch Magnus. As the Thousand Sons fought to protect their Homeworld, Kontep was among the Fifth Fellowship's forces that defended Tizca's Valperine Bastion. Despite their efforts, though, the Censure Host forces attacking it, destroyed the Bastion and then moved on to other targets. Despite its collapse, however, Kontep and a battalion of Thousand Sons, managed to survive by using psychic kine shields. He would take command of its forces and sometime after the Primarch Magnus escaped into the Warp, Kontep planned his own escape. However he did not engage the Censure Host and instead had his forces gather any supplies, refugees, aircraft and anti-grav vehicles. Once they were done, Kontep had them flee onto Prospero's seas and while the Censure Host destroyed some of their vehicles, many manged to escape.[1]

It was as the victorious Censure Host had nearly completed evacuating Prospero, that Kontep's forces finally reemerged. Using some manner of powerful divination, they staged a well-timed assault, that allowed them to seize three Imperial Army Transport Arks and flee into space. Due to the Censure Host's fleet being dispersed around Prospero's orbit, the Transports were able to reach the outer regions of the Prospero System. While one transport was eventually destroyed by the Censure Host's destroyers, the other two manged to escape their pursuers. However since the Transports lacked Warp Drives, the Censure Host did not commit a concerted search for them and soon left the System. It is not known what became of the two hijacked Transports, or if Kontep escaped aboard either of them.[1]

After their evacuation from Prospero, Sul and his warriors threw themselves at the Emperor's mercy and were granted a second chance. Placed under Sisters of Silence supervision, they fought for the loyalist cause in the Heresy and took part in the Siege of Cthonia alongside the Imperial Fists. After he and his warriors defeated the Word Bearers Captain Zedak Mordakar, Kontep sacrificed himself to unleash his full psychic powers in order to allow for the evacuation of his men as well as Evander Garrius[2c].
