Does anyone know what the fourth story arc is called? And is it the final one or the penultimate arc? --Vindicta 04:24, 5 January 2009 (CET)

Cleaning this page up and collaboration

I would really like to see this page cleaned up, with detailed synopsis' for each book, with a Major Character and Villians section for each. And maybe even a list of the dead for each novel as well. However It is a HUGE task and I dont want to do it alone. So please add your thoughts on the matter, team. Calling for assistance i guess! Help please? First of all the page should be split up into its indivual novels, everything else is madness. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 16:52, 14 April 2011 (CEST)
Would copying the format of the page for the Horus Heresy Series be of any use? That's just an intro and a gallery, with each book's own page being used (ideally, in actuality they're all in various states) for synopsis and character lists. I would advise against lists of deaths, personally.--Mob 00:59, 15 April 2011 (CEST)
I think yes, the Horus Heresy Series gallery style would work for this page and the fact that it allows for each page to be a tidy list of characters and synopsis is a definite plus. And i was iffy on the death list idea, I suppose the Gaunts Ghosts List of Characters page would suffice in that role (however that in itself is also getting very long).
Would we also be able to implement the whole book Chronology infobox feature as seen on the Iron Maiden album as an example 1 on the right? However ive just tried it and I think its template based, so i dont know what demons dwell here.--Ytokes 01:56, 15 April 2011 (CEST)
I'm getting an error off that link, but I think I know what you mean; I've wanted a similar type of thing for Battle articles for ages, but lack the markup knowledge to make templates here; lex seems to use a different system than wiki. It would certainly be advantageous to have these kinds of templates IMHO.
As to this topic, I'm happy to help doing whatever, and don't be put off your deaths idea just because I don't like it! We can discuss that issue later with other users. For now, I recommend we split this page up into individual books like the HH ones and do synopsis/major char lists before getting any more detailed. I'm happy to do whatever, it's your idea though so I'll follow your lead on it. Cheers.--Mob 02:07, 15 April 2011 (CEST)
Iv'e fixed the above link, but yeah, to start creating templates, not too confident there. But yes I do agree that the chronology feature would be useful, just for all the Novels, maybe even the Primarchs and Original Space Marine Chapters.
And thanks for the support on the deaths idea, but i just know that it would take a whole heap of work on the fact that books would have to be re-read and noted extensively. And there is a lot of books there. If we however lifted the main information from the Gaunts Ghosts character page then that would make it easier however. It doesn't matter at this stage anyway as everything can be changed at any point in the future and that is the Wiki's strongpoint.
I would mainly like to concentrate on good synopsis' as the primary aim, much like you said in your previous comment. I would see that we, maybe with others, each take a book, do a synopsis, and character list, post the content online, and then let each other make edits to it to get it to a better standard of quality. I dont mind being the one who sets up that first HH style page as im old hand at those now. But thatll have to wait for 2 days maybe before I can start it.--Ytokes 06:49, 16 April 2011 (CEST)
if you look at my user page you'll see the HH series style page there waiting to be copied over to this page once it ready.--Ytokes 11:14, 16 April 2011 (CEST)
I've just realised that the Gautns Ghosts wntry on wikipedia 1 has a pretty decent synopsis availible. Would it be wrong to copy and paste that over? Just, it would save time etc etc.--Ytokes 11:51, 16 April 2011 (CEST)
Full copypasting is not allowed. Copying other people's work in general is not encouraged and if you do then the onus is on you to change it very significantly so as to avoid the plagarism limit. I always encourage originality, personally. Which is somewhat circular in this case as little bits of the Ghosts wiki articles (and indeed little bits of the stuff on lex) are the much-edited remnants of stuff I created from an old tripod site about, oh, 7 years ago.--Mob 18:27, 16 April 2011 (CEST)
Yes I am aware of the issues of plagiarism, having keep an eye on the recent problems with the wh40k wikia copying lex material 1:1. However I would have no problem using more than one source and significantly rewriting, using the sources as references mainly, after all that is how you must add content from the Codices.--Ytokes 01:59, 17 April 2011 (CEST)
