"Kroff Tezla - Maimed by rogue Titans - unfit for active service. Now aided by psyber monkeys." ??? Does anyone have any opinion on this? I have the original novel and the maimed my Titans bit is fine - but he was a Liuetenant (an rank that no longer exists in current canon, but would be closer to Vet. Sgt. than Capt.) and there was certainly no mention of "cyber monkeys"! The novel was republished recently but, according to Black Lib website, it wasn't ret-conned ("Although the temptation was great to rewrite significant portions of this book to make it conform to current background, as a curiosity piece, an historical snapshot of the Warhammer 40,000 universe circa the early 1990s, this book is invaluable"). So is this just someone being silly? Thelemur 07:01, 20 November 2011 (CET)

Strange indeed. Anyways I would cut out the part with the psyber monkeys, as it indeed sounds somewhat silly. A comprehensive explanation in a full article would be better. --DetlefK 12:23, 20 November 2011 (CET)

Anyone mind if I remove Castellans from the list? - I dont think their rank is equivalent to Captain Thelemur 01:06, 14 December 2011 (CET)

Since they command a Fighting Company, I think they actually would qualify more than a Marshal, which seems more like a Force Commander. -- SFH 01:50, 14 December 2011 (CET)
I was viewing it as High Marshall = Commander, Marshall = Captain, Castellan = leader of smaller detatchment. I suppose it is difficult to directly compare templars with other Chapters though.

The Templars page states - "Fighting Companies, led by warriors who are given the honorific of Castellan. The name "company" however does not mean that it has at least 100 marines fighting in it. Fighting Companies may even consist of only 10 marines."

And the Castellan page says -"To lead these the Marshal will appoint a Sword Brother with the honorarium of Castellan", Sword brother = veteran, ie an experienced marine, but not an officer. Thelemur 02:47, 14 December 2011 (CET)

In that case, I say go ahead and remove Castellans. -- SFH 04:31, 14 December 2011 (CET)

Black Templars have a very different structure which is much less formal than the Codex Astartes and represents Imperial Fists crusade forces from the great crusade. A Marshal will command anywhere from tens to thousands of full brothers. Marshals are also picked from the sword brethren just like Castellans. So a Marshal of 100 brothers may be comparable to Company Commander, but a Marshal of many hundreds or over a thousand marines would be comparable to Chapter Master, in which case he would need Castellans to act as company commanders. A small crusade of Black Templars would not need Castellans. Think of it like a church- You always have a Vicar/Rector leading it whether there is ten or the thousands of a mega church, its just that the big church also needs team vicars/pastors. Seeing Both Marshals and Castellans are just Sword Brethern with a title I see no need to delete the Castellans. Sorry I said that a bit waffeley. So a Castellan leads anywhere between 10 and a few hundred Space Marines, aided by a Chaplain. A Captain does something somewhere in the middle of this in responsibility Thornblood 13:17, 14 December 2011 (CET)

You can leave them in and make a note at the end (with an asterisk and a number of the note pointing there of course). Or you can make it easier and just add a note directly in the field with the name, nuff space there. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 14:06, 14 December 2011 (CET)
Why did you re-add Kroff Tezla? - the information in the table is not correct, he is not a captain and is not "aided by psyber monkeys"... The info may have a source, but the information given is not what is said in the novel The Lemur 23:19, 11 June 2012 (CEST)
