Talk:Space Marine Forces (List)

From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Jump to: navigation, search

Moved from List of Space Marine Chapters to this page, in order to adhere to the "xyz (list)" format. I Changed "Chapters" to "Forces" as this list contains Chapters, Legions and Warbands. If a different title is desired I have no problem with that - this is just the most appropriate title I could think of.

Previous talk page can be found here. Thelemur 05:44, 26 December 2011 (CET)

Terminology

"Extinct" was changed to "Destroyed" for the reasons mentioned on the previous talk pages - and was also linked to Lost Chapters. Thelemur 05:44, 26 December 2011 (CET)

Wouldn't then "Lost" be more correct if it links to that article? I just think that "Destroyed" doesn't fit, because more things can happen to them that would deem them... Lost/Extinct.--Ashendant 20:24, 26 December 2011 (CET)
I don't see why it has to be a single term, just use the word most appropriate to the status of the force in question. Not only would that avoid this kind of empty discussion and be more accurate, it would (well, to me anyway) encourage a click-through to see why X Chapter is considered 'Lost' in relation to the more obvious 'Destroyed'. As much as some Chapters are not 'Extinct', neither are they 'Destroyed'. Example: The Lamenters are down to one known-of member. Are they extinct? Nope, there's definately one guy left. Are they Destroyed? Nope, we just haven't heard from them in a few years and for all we know that's because of the Shadow in the Warp, not because the Tyranids om-nommed all of them. Two cents etc, loving the work done on this subject.--Mob 20:53, 26 December 2011 (CET)
Good call gentlemen, "Lost" does make a lot more sense. I'll change when I can - Im having problems with the site atm. Thelemur 17:57, 27 December 2011 (CET)
I'm also having troubles with this site, and if the recent page list is right it seems to be common to everyone...--Ashendant 23:55, 27 December 2011 (CET)
Hum the list organizing button no longer works...--Ashendant 00:08, 31 December 2011 (CET)

Filling up the Blanks

From [1] The following i didn't confirm do to lack of source materials:

  • Killmongers doesn't exist in Insignium Astartes, probably fanfiction with a false label
  • Red Seraphs are loyalists, no origin or founding given
  • Red Rage are Khornate chaos warband (for the chaos list), no origin or founding given

Clearing up the Chapter List

The "Brothers Penitent" chapter are marked as "Allegiance:???" but their page says they guard the Eye of Terror for the Imperium, surely that entitles them to an "Allegiance:Imperium" tag? OmegaXicor 21:35, 30 December 2012 (CET)

Also their are some chapters that have no information at all, an example is the "Golden Angels" because they have no page, Origin, Founding, Allegiance or Source...so realistically they don't exist, so why are they in the list???? (there might be a reason so I don't want to delete them, just in case) OmegaXicor 22:48, 30 December 2012 (CET)

Source 51, "*51: Painting Space Marine Devastators (accessed 2011.06.17)" goes only to the GW homepage, I can only conclude the page has been moved/deleted but I don't know where it is supposed to link to so I can't change it but the Shadow Hawks chapter are the only one that uses it as a source but the page lists no other source. I don't know what to do in this situation. OmegaXicor 23:05, 30 December 2012 (CET)

Feel free to add such tag
I guess you can remove the Golden Angels since they don't have any source, i always wanted to do it but was not sure if someone just missed the source. But just the Golden Angels since they are the only one that is sourceless.
When missing page use the internet wayback machine, but i guess it doesn't work :I--Ashendant 23:39, 30 December 2012 (CET)
