THAT is not an official chapter symbol! Seriously: when I'm done in the German Lex there will be a lot of purging with this fan-made would-be-official pictures. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 23:27, 24 August 2008 (CEST)

That's what I thought, as well, but it looks like it's among the chapter's original iconography, if not the primary symbol. It can be found on the vehicle transfer sheet from the Land Raider kit, as depicted in the 1991 Citadel catalog. [1] I do agree that the head-on shark symbol is more likely to be the actual chapter badge and should be displayed here. At the very least we could do without the banner and olive branches and that nonsense.

2.) To be precise we do not know for certain that the shark symbol belongs to the Space Sharks (as the transfer sheet does not have any inscriptions. We might conclude it, but for the moment we don't know it. But we know of pictures of Space Shark Marines with different looking iconography... --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 23:29, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
I thought it was obvious, but I did ask GW themselves. I got the following response:
That is the original symbol for the Space Sharks.
(Not sure if I should post his name here)

I'm sure this will be discounted due to the color of the correspondent's shirt (and I'm not really sure how to go about proving "hey, I got an email", but you (and anyone) is welcome to write them and ask yourself. It's hard to imagine you'll get any different answer. As it stands, that's as official as it gets where this subject is concerned. --Faeslayer 20:06, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Well actually I suppose that there is official proof for that on either the original land raider box or maybe in an old catalogue/ white dwarf. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 11:22, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

With the upcoming Forge World Badab War II book, it looks like the Space Sharks have been retroactively re-christened the Carcharodons. How do we want to address this? - Servitor 2152 22:07, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

By waiting until the source is actually out and then we see. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 00:35, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Updated the page to reflect the changes from Imperial Armour 10, though I'm at a loss as what to do with the old information. I saved the old entry on my HD just in case though. -- Myssa Rei 00:56, 23 March 2011 (GMT+8)
It looks like IA Badab War II just cleaned up some stuff for us by giving us new pictures and information. Commisar Gegnillum 19:15, 22 March 2011 (CET)
The usual method when old fluff is rewritten extensively is to keep what you can (if it's cited correctly) and anything that no longer makes sense/is contradictory is entered in a Notes or Canon Conflict section at the end of the article (before Sources). Thanks.--Mob 20:36, 22 March 2011 (CET)

White Scars info?

There is some speculation that the Space Sharks may be a Successor Chapter of the White Scars. Part of the White Scars Legion's Scouting Company was separated from the rest of the Legion during the Horus Heresy. Upon returning after the end of the Horus Heresy they formed their own Space Marine Chapter specializing in the use of Scout Marines.6
This can't be from WD 101. The 40K Compendium, which collected the article, doesn't have it --Digganob 14:10, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

I absolutely agree, this issue has to be cleared up immediately! --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 14:32, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
