I dont agree that the more modern IA pictures previously uploaded are particularly poorer quality than the older ones which the page has been reverted to having - but I certainly dont want to start a revert war, anyone else have an opinion? Thelemur 00:59, 18 November 2011 (CET)

The scan quality looks poor to me: the IA scan is leaning to the right and has a yellowish tint that distorts the colour. In the book it is slightly greener. --Digganob 03:05, 18 November 2011 (CET)

I would say that whatever image is used the painted miniature and the drawing should match, and in the older version they don't. Just a thought. --qryan 01:14, 18 November 2011 (CET)

@Qryan2 - the most up to date image should be used - there are plenty of examples of pages with miniatures from the early 90s - doesn't mean we should use a picture from the early 90s aswell if there is a more recent option! I can prob get hold of IA and scan another image of the modern pic, it just seems like alot of effort to rectify a "yellowish tint" Thelemur 03:16, 18 November 2011 (CET)
Took some pics of IA with digital camers (scanner is out of commission atm), pics all seem very similar to the last image. Perhaps you could scan/photo your copy Digganob? for a better colour result? Thelemur 03:54, 18 November 2011 (CET)
On a general note, IMO the most recent image isn't automatically the better option. Take the image from the Salamanders article for example. The older version from the Index Astartes article features flame iconography, flayed reptilian skin and a flamer - that's three iconic details that are typical for the chapter. The newer one may look nicer but it conveys less information to the reader.
Regarding this article, the old Purge image is from 2007 while the one from Imperial Armour is from 2009, so they are both pretty recent. I don't see how the 2007 one is outdated, especially since the colour scheme hasn't changed between those two years.--Digganob 13:43, 18 November 2011 (CET)
Cool, I only wanted the newer image because the artwork was far superior to the WD pic, but as you say - the scan of the image perhaps isn't perfect. I'll try and get a copy of the original IA book - my copy is unfortunately just a scanned copy Thelemur 07:16, 20 November 2011 (CET)
