The Enlightener
The Enlightener is a Helbrute in The Blessed Warband and was a Contemptor Dreadnought in the Word Bearers Legion, during the Horus Heresy.[1]
At that time, he was known as Narath'Kol and was a respected hero, who had a remarkable talent for strategic analysis. When the Horus Heresy neared its end, Narath'Kol served[1] under Captain Darokh'Var and was aboard his warship, the Firebrand, as the Word Bearers traveled to invade Terra. However before they reached it, the Firebrand became trapped in the Warp for several days. When the Firebrand finally re-emerged, however, Darokh'Var and his forces realized that over a thousand years had passed. They soon discovered that the Imperium had defeated the Traitor Legions, who had been forced to flee into the Eye of Terror. The Captain was fanatically loyal to his Primarch Lorgar, though, and led his forces to attack Imperial worlds, before fleeing back into the Warp. Once again, however, the Firebrand became trapped in the Warp and when it re-emerged yet another thousand years had passed. Darokh'Var would continue his attacks despite this and a total of several decades would pass in the Warp for the Word Bearers, while millennia passed in [[Realspace][2]. However, with every jump through the Warp, its corrupting energies seeped into Narath'Kol's sarcophagus and tainted him. In time, his Contemptor Dreadnought mutated into a Helbrute, and though Narath'Kol survived the process he was driven insane. This resulted in The Enlightener being born, who was only capable of the most rudimentary thought and was driven by psychotic aggression and agony. Now he is chained within the Firebrand by Darokh'Var's forces, which have been reborn as The Blessed Warband, who only unleash the Helbrute before a war occurs. When he is given free reign on the battlefield, though, The Enlightener blares the scripture of his Primarch Lorgar as he proceeds to obliterate everything foolish enough to stand in his path.[1]
