The Firebrand is an enigmatic Freeblade, believed to the last of a Knight House that was brought low by his own hand.[1]

Biography

The legends surrounding the warrior that would become The Firebrand describe him as a foolhardy and impetuous Knight, who favoured direct action over the subtlety and tactics espoused by the Baron of his House. This would cause The Firebrand to lead many of the Knights of his House into a foolhardy confrontation that they could not hope to win. They were outnumbered in the battle and its aftermath left his House decimated, causing its few survivors to name him The Firebrand ever after. Afterwards his Baron, appalled at his lack of foresight and the loss of so many of their number, banished him from their doomed – and now long since forgotten – House. Scholars have speculated over the years which noble Knight House The Firebrand brought so low, but none dare to ask him.[1]

The Firebrand now roams from battlefield to battlefield in service to the Imperium and can always be seen where the fighting is the thickest. Some say he is driven to battle to try and pay penance for the destruction of his Knight House; others say he fights with the same wild abandon he always has. Regardless of his motives The Firebrand bears no shame in his new name - instead he has embraced the venom with which he was labelled, and unleashes it in the crucible of battle against the enemies of Mankind.[1]
