Thoas was a planet of the Galaxy, tidally locked in orbit around a blue star.[1a]
History
Many centuries before the Great Crusade, the planet supported a non-Imperial Human civilization that destroyed itself in a civil war. Even by the time of the Great Crusade, the surface of Thoas was still too contaminated by the terrible weapons used for an unaugmented human to survive.[1a][1d]
Sometime between the downfall of this civilization and the Great Crusade, Thoas (along with many nearby planets) became infested by Orks, with Thoas forming the seat of power for their leader. The Ultramarines Legion led a systematic purge of the Orks from these systems, culminating in the Battle of Thoas.[1b][1c]
