"Duty and faith. Cadian and the God-Emperor. I fight for them all, as my Father did before me. So fight, my Brothers and Sisters, for as long as we defy the darkness, Cadia stands!"
- Ursula J. Creed

Ursula J. Creed[3]

Ursula J. Creed[1] is the current Lord Castellan of Cadia and is the daughter of the previous holder of the title, Ursarkar E. Creed.[2]

While Ursula's rise to senior command was not as meteoric or infamous as her father, she nonetheless shares Ursarkar's hardened Generalship, unbowed spirit, and physically imposing appearance. During her career she has restlessly demanded swift redeployment in victory after victory, forging her own legend as a strategist with famed intuition and ruthless determination.[1]

History

Ursula Creed[4f]

Ursula was born as a result of a brief affair between Ursarkar E. Creed and a chamberlain to the Governor of Theta Sykan. Ursula, then going by Ursula Skouros spent the first twenty years of her life on Cadia with her mother, only seeing her father twice from a distance but knowing well his exploits. Ursula grew up thinking Ursarkar did not know she existed, but this was not the case. In truth, Ursula's mother had convinced Ursarkar to keep a distance lest she be dragged into his campaigning with him. In time, Ursula joined the Cadian 17th and was overseeing a garrison on the world of Hakeldama by the time Abaddon's Thirteenth Black Crusade hit.[4c][4e][4f]

Ursula was among the several million Cadians who survived the destruction of their world during the Black Crusade, and was promoted to the new Lord Castellan of Cadia sometime after due to her impressive exploits as commander of surviving Cadian units during the subsequent decades of waging the Indomitus Crusade. Sometime later, a large piece of Cadia's Chaos-infested remains was found containing an area that held the Rossvar Mountains. This once again caused rumors of Creed's hidden weapon to spread and news of the discovery was brought to Lord Commander Guilliman's attention. He was then convinced that an infiltration mission should be launched to find Creed's weapon and that, for propaganda reasons, it should be the Lord Castellan's daughter Ursula, who commanded it. Ursula reluctantly agreed to do so, after being asked to by Guilliman[4b] and she later successfully found her Father's Data-Crystal which contained information regarding New Cadia.[4c] She would then escape with it and bring Creed's plans for New Cadia to Guilliman. Though it was not what they thought it would be, the Lord Commander was convinced that New Cadia would be more valuable to the Imperium than any weapon could be. Ursula then asked if Guilliman would give her command of the remaining Cadian Regiments, so she could use them to claim the Systems that would lead to New Cadia's formation. The Lord Commander, however, did not give her a definitive answer and instead stated that he would to need think on the matter. Though Ursula has accepted this, she is impatiently waiting for Guilliman's decision and hopes to be able to act on her Father's plans soon.[4d]

After her mission to new Cadia, Ursula found that her fathers cloak appeared in her chambers aboard the ship Oriflamme[4d]. It has fired an obsessive hope in Ursula that her father still yet lives and she the fabric upon her shoulders. The wider Imperium believes the cloak to be a recreation. Besides this cloak, she goes into battle with the twin pistols Duty and Vengeance and a Power Sword.[1]

Canon Conflict

While Codex: Astra Militarum (9th Edition)[3] and a Warhammer Community article[1] state that Ursula's middle name starts with a J[1][3], chapter 1 of Creed: Ashes of Cadia (Novel) claims her middle name is Skouros.[4]
