Cover of Salvation's Reach

Salvation's Reach is the thirteenth book in the Gaunt's Ghosts Novel Series and is was released in October 2011. It details the build up and preparation of the Tanith First-and-Only Regiments first combat mission since their recovery and rest period on Balhaut.

The Ghosts of the Tanith First-and-Only have been away from the front line for too long. Listless, and hungry for action, they are offered a mission that perfectly suits their talents. The objective: the mysterious Salvation’s Reach, a remote and impenetrable stronghold concealing secrets that could change the course of the Sabbat Worlds campaign. But the proposed raid is so hazardous, it’s regarded as a suicide mission, and the Ghosts may have been in reserve for so long they’ve lost their edge. Haunted by spectres from the past and stalked by the Archenemy, Colonel-Commissar Gaunt and his Ghosts embark upon what could be their finest hour… or their final mission.

Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only are mustered on Menazoid Sigma, taking on re-inforcements from Belladon and Verghast including Wilder's younger brother and Gaunt's unknown son, before moving out to an unclassified assignment. Present with them on the planet is Mabbon Etogaur, who after barely surviving an assassination attempt foiled by Rawne, is transferred to be under the control of the Tanith First 2nd Company, Rawne and the Suicide Kings. Gaunt takes his son's presence well, and assigns him the role of a trooper, as otherwise he will not have any respect if he enters the ranks high up and inexperienced. Wilder's younger brother brings with him a full military brass band, his older brother having ordered it three years prior, with them only being able to link up now. Vaynom Blenner has now been atached to the Belladon permanently as Gaunt's duties become greater, such that he cannot perform his Commissarial duties 100% effecicinetly across the entire regiment. Captain Ban Daur has brung with him a woman from Balhaut, Ellodie Duttana, however they are not yet married. Dorden's health has progressed further down hill, to the point where he has collapsed several times, only to be revived by Curth and the rest of the medical team; Lesp, Balhaut guy.

Gaunt is introduced to three Space Marines sent to help with the secret mission, Silver Guard, Iron Snakes and the White Scars.

As the Ghosts make prepartions to move off planet and transit into the warp,
