Formating of Anthologies

Hello, adept. About your edit of Anthologies. We sort of decided that the titles should remain in the text of the article, so that it is immediately clear whether this is a story, a novella, a novel, or something else. It is important to see at first glance what type of story it is.--Darkelf77 (talk) 07:18, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi Darkelf77. The goal of my edits was to match how most English style guides dictate how to format titles, which is that short works like poems and short stories should be in quotations, and longer works like novels and novellas should be in italics. So this gives some idea of the format of the story, though obviously just saying (Short Story) or (Novel) next to the title is clearer. That said, for some anthologies like Eye of Terra, using the article title actually makes some things less clear, since many of the articles have (Audio Drama) or (Audio Book) in them.
How about this: for anthologies with a mix of novels, novellas, and short stories like Tallarn, we format it something like
This way we preserve proper formatting of titles while making it clear what each story is. For anthologies consisting entirely of short stories, I believe that quotation marks around the titles should be clear enough, especially since the first line in the article should say something like "Page Title is an anthology of short stories". What do you think? --Mikaka (talk) 03:48, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
Yes, it's also OK. We on our way to perfection, so will find the best variants through discussion. :)--Darkelf77 (talk)
Please adhere to above mentioned style in edited articles: "Once a Killer" (Short Story) by Mitchel Scanlon" with "(short story/novella/novel)" - as we decided.--Darkelf77 (talk) 06:57, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
I think my changes to the Warhammer Crime anthologies were in line with the above conversation? I had suggested adding the form descriptors (novel, novella, short story) in cases where there might be confusion about each item, like in anthologies with a mix of novels, novellas, and short stories. The anthologies I've edited recently are all exclusively short stories, no mixing in of novels or novellas. The articles state they are "anthologies of short stories", and the formatting further reinforces this by having the titles in quotes instead of italics. I believe this makes it quite clear to the users what the format of each item is, and adding a bunch of "(short story)"s after every item would only clutter the page. --Mikaka (talk) 02:37, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
