Quotes Template

Previous discussion here and here

Following on from the above topic, I moved the quotebox on the Dorden page to be central (like we've presented quotes in the past) and just came back to the visual issue that made us stop and think in the first place; it abuts a picture and the page looks a bit off-set with two shapes meeting like that. That article is far, far from near a 'finished' state, but I mention it as it's illustrative of the issue. --Mob 05:34, 20 March 2012 (CET)

I realise that it's the conventional way of doing it here, but having a quote in the middle of a page kind of breaks up the flow of the article IMO (unless it's referred to in the preceding text, like in Ahriman) and it seems like it was only there before for technical reasons (i.e. centred and bold to distinguish it from the rest of the text, but floating there because that's just how the software displays it). As for Dorden, if the picture was at the top (unless there's a particular reason for it not to be), then the quote could go on the right, below it, and you wouldn't have the off-set problem. --IXS=][= 17:17, 20 March 2012 (CET)
I think it looks better the way Mob set it out, but i dont have any particularly strong feeling about it either way - we could try a few different styles on different pages and see how they look. The Lemur 17:58, 20 March 2012 (CET)
Sounds good. --IXS=][= 18:10, 20 March 2012 (CET)

Novel subcategory inside faction categories?

Hey, just had a thought, wondered if you guys figured it was worthwhile. The faction categories contain all articles directly related to that faction, normally including a Characters subcategory. I was wondering if it'd be useful to have another subcategory for novels/audios etc inside that, so people interested in the faction can see where they'll find fluff that directly relates. For example, in Category:Crimson Fists, there'd be a subcat Category:Novels (Crimson Fists) (or whatever we think it could be called) and then the categorised articles in that. I happen to browse by category quite a lot, but I don't know if this is a functionality that you guys think would be useful? Cheers.--Mob 20:06, 30 March 2012 (CEST)

Well it would be cool but a whole lot of work, and i'm already loaded with work when comes to the lexi.--Ashendant 21:50, 30 March 2012 (CEST)
Sounds like a good idea! The Lemur 22:26, 30 March 2012 (CEST)
Cool. It'd be a bit of work, yeah, but I'll work on adding them as I potter around; some simple organisation work to go to will make good breaks from content. Cheers for the feedback.--Mob 23:24, 30 March 2012 (CEST)

Chaos Portals

I'm tired of looking at the red Alpha Legion, Night Lords, Emperor's Children's Portals on the main Chaos Portal page. However I'm code stupid/illiterate and can't figure out how to make said portals. If someone could give me the code or just make them I'd distribute them to the appropriate pages. Thanks.--Harriticus 22:33, 30 March 2012 (CEST)

It was actually me who added the portal boxes to that page - I just forgot to make the other ones. I'll do it now. The Lemur 22:48, 30 March 2012 (CEST)
Also - most of the faction portal pages need alot of work, maybe when we get some time we could have a look at jazzing them up a bit. The Lemur 22:48, 30 March 2012 (CEST)
Thanks for the CSM templates!. Also I've dabbled with some of the portals today. Updated Necrons a little and added a Forces category to Chaos.--Harriticus 22:55, 30 March 2012 (CEST)
No probs - just dont expect me to add them to the relevant pages! The Lemur 23:00, 30 March 2012 (CEST)

Primarch Curse

I have these thing in the Deathwatch RPG called the Primarch Curses, which are basicly the effects each Primarch had on their legions(Like Blood Angels Bloodlust), i just don't know where to put it? Should i stick with the Primarch page? Space Marine Legion Page? or should i go for a list?--Ashendant 00:21, 6 April 2012 (CEST)
Incorporate into the most appropriate page (Legion or Primarch page). I would Imagine that these pages would already have sections on geneseed flaws/primarch legacies etc, so add the info to those sections. The Lemur 14:12, 6 April 2012 (CEST)

New Book Template Fix

I've come to realise that the fix I used before for Template:Book and Template:Game etc. with the relevant portal above was a bit of a botch, so I've restarted Template:BookTest with a better feature: Portal code. If left blank or not included (as with all the current articles) it will be as it is now, with PublicationsPortal above the infobox, but if you'd rather you can put the code for any number of portals there instead, and it will add them above the infobox rather than the default code.

This should be useful for all those Space Marine legions books which have their own portal code as well as the publication portal, and makes this simpler than at the moment with having to mess about with tables again, while still just as straightforward for the other articles. It also allows the Pub. portal to go above the specific portal (which I think should be the standard, as readers would probably see the articles as primarily publications, and secondarily about the subject: what do the rest of you think?), or vice versa, and even allows no portal at all if that's ever useful (just use empty tag code, like ).

I've also added the possibility to add alternate covers (first/second/third editions) and captions to describe them in the infobox, which to my eye looks neater than having a "Covers table" in the middle of the page. These changes are all present in the (Work in Progress!) Space Marine (Novel) article, so take a look and let me know what you think. --IXS=][= 00:25, 10 April 2012 (CEST)

I love the alternate covers option. And anything that makes the portal boxes less of a pain in the proverbial is a good thing, IMHO.--Mob 21:40, 14 April 2012 (CEST)
