The Vedik System is a star system located in the Chalnath Expanse[1].

History

The Vedik System lies in the path of the T'au Fifth Sphere of Expansion under Commander Shadowsun. Isolated and facing economic ruin since becoming trapped within the Dark Imperium, its population has begun to lose faith in the Emperor. Thus when the T'au Water Caste arrived to open negotiations, the Imperial authorities of the Vedik System used Rogue Traders to broker food and aid. Before long, the T'au had earned the trust of the population and Water Caste officials even held seats on some local councils. The T'au gave gifts to the Imperial Commanders of the Vedik System, though these in truth were listening Drones.[3]

The situation in Vedik changed when a battered Imperial fleet arrived in the system without warning. Led by a force of Sisters of Battle from the Order of Our Martyred Lady, the pious Sororitas were horrified by what they found. The Sisters determined their sudden arrival had been ordained by the Emperor, and that it was their mission to purge the Vedik System of the Xenos and their collaborators. As soon as the Sororitas appeared, the T'au quickly withdrew for they knew they currently did not have the forces to oppose them. Upon occupying the worlds of the Vedik System, the Sisters conducted a vicious wave of purges, interrogations, and tortures to root out the Xenos collaborators. They were aided by Ecclesiarchy Preachers, who rose up to destroy Water Caste businesses and those who had aided them.[3]

The T'au were not willing to give up Vedik, however, and under orders from Shadowsun a fleet of ships arrived filled with troops. These were led by hundreds of teams of Pathfinders with orders to rescue beleaguered T'au still remaining in the System, reestablish contact with allies, and eventually overthrow Imperial rule. The T'au had to move fast, as more and more Imperial vessels were arriving. Now, both sides fight for the system.[3]

The Vedik System

  • BhascaFortress World and capital. Despite its formidable defences, it is home to large numbers of disgruntled workers who the T'au seek to exploit. Fighting on Bhasca has concentrated around the fortresses defence network and trench lines. Fighting at the port of Reknahvar resulted in an early Sororitas victory.[3]
  • VarikarDeath World beset by tectonic activity and home to many illegal smugglers. The T'au have established a strong presence on Varikar, using the smugglers to ferry propaganda and arms to collaborators in the System.[3]
  • Saint Kornaz's HopeMining World/Feudal World home to massive slums and warring noble dynasties. It has seen some of the fiercest fighting the system and was the first to suffer T'au invasion. After several early defeats, the feudal dynasties have put aside their differences to fight the Xenos.[3]
  • TamaghanPenal World which has remained loyal to the Imperium thanks to its strong Ecclesiarchy presence amongst the prisoner population. When the T'au arrived to ostensibly free the prisoners, they were instead met with vicious resistance.[3]
  • PosenoiOcean World rich in algal nutrients that form the basic foodstuff of the system. The war for the world has been fought in the air and the Sororitas fight fanatically to defend its agricultural and mining rigs from constant T'au attack.[3]
