Verstun is an Imperial a world on the Eastern Fringe.[1]

History

By the time of the Horus Heresy the otherwise unimportant planet was used as a way-station by Imperial travelers. This was thanks to a long warp canal which led from Ultramar to the Eastern Fringes. Verstun itself was a collection of orbital colonies set around a gas giant and its orbital refineries mined the surface for fuel as its chief export. At the outbreak of the Horus Heresy Verstun at first tried to be neutral, but this changed when nearby Heraldor entered the conflict on the traitor side and intimidated its rulers into joining the Warmaster. The fuel produced by Verstun later went to the Night Lords during the Thramas Crusade.[1]

By the end of the Heresy vengeful fleets of the Ultramarines arrived to drive out the Night Lords in a naval battle lasting three days and seeing many of the orbiting colonies boarded or destroyed. Rather than surrender, the Night Lords detonated the atomantic reactors at the core of its largest refineries, creating a nuclear death the destroyed the gas giant and its colonies.[1]
