Vettius Telok was a radical Magos of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Biography

In 383.M38 he led a foray into the Halo Stars seeking a fabled artifact known as the 'Breath of the Gods'. His expedition was thought lost with all knowledge.[1]

However in truth, Telok survived and discovered the Breath of the Gods near a world he dubbed Exniliho. Going mad researching the device, his body was consumed by ancient nano-crystals that became a hallmark of his new radical technologies. Telok eventually came to the conclusion that only he was fit to rule the Imperium, and intended to use the star-siphoning powers of the Breath of the Gods to destroy Terra and Mars in order to rule as Emperor.[2a] Though originally thinking he required the technologies of the Noctis Labyrinth on Mars in order to activate the Breath of the Gods, over several millennia of research Telok discovered the entropic fields of the Hrud could have the same desired effect and thus he used a large captive Hrud colony to power the device.[2b]

Segmenting a part of his own psyche known as Galatea off and dropping it at the research station Valette Manifold, Telok lured Archmagos Lexell Kotov and the Kotov Crusade to Exniliho and revealed his intentions to use its Ark Mechanicus Speranza to transport the Breath of the Gods to the Sol System to carry out his plans. His plan was a reckless one, and according to the Kotov Crusade's Eldar allies would likely result in the erasure of the space-time continuum. In the final battle over Exnihilo, the Kotov Crusade and Eldar attempted to stop Telok from taking control of the Speranza. As he hacked into the vessels systems he engaged in a mental duel with Kotov for control of the ship. Thanks to the efforts of Kotov and his allies as well as the Speranza's own intelligence turning against him, Telok was apparently slain.[2c]

Though thought dead and the Breath of the Gods seemingly destroyed, a segment of Telok may live on in the mind of the Kotov Crusade's Fabricator Locum Tarkis Blaylock. Blaylock's last known location was aboard the Speranza as it returned to Imperial space.[2c]
