The War of the Consus Drift was a campaign waged by the Imperial Fists Legion during the Great Crusade.[1]

Overview

For many centuries the Consus Drift had been the domain of a string of asteroid cities connected together by tunnels made of shipwrecks. The inhabitants of the region were known as Driftborn, and the colonies were frequently fought over by the various Drift Clans. The Imperium came into contact with the Consus Drift when the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet of the Imperial Fists exited the Warp in the region by accident. Surprisingly the Drift Clans' asteroid-cities and attack craft attacked the confused and disorientated Imperial ships. However, the Imperial Fists soon began a counterattack, driving the Driftborn from their ships and boarding their vessels.[1]

The Imperial Fists battled deep into each asteroid-city, stopping only when they obtained control over its life support system control room. Their Primarch, Rogal Dorn, gave the Driftborn an ultimatum: compliance or suffocation. With no option, the Driftborn surrendered.[2]

The Imperial Fists would take some of the fiercer Driftborn warriors and initiate them into their own Legion, forming the 356th Company.[1]
