Gameplay overview
In the 2021 Edition, you take control of a team of highly trained operatives from a 40k Faction conducting vital and dangerous missions against their rivals. Each mission is set in an environment called a Killzone. Various narrative generators allow you to establish your kill team name, background, quirks, base of operations and individual operative names. Your operatives can earn experience which give them benefits like battle honours and rare equipment.[4a] During the game, each players alternate the performing of actions for each of their operative.[4b]
Editions
Apocalypse: Kill Team
Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse: Kill Team was released in 2013 as a supplement to the 6th Edition of Warhammer 40,000.
1st Edition (2016)
The 1st edition was launched in 2016.[1] Its tagline was: Brutal close-quarters combat in the 41st Millennium[1]
- Boxed set : Kill Team: The Boxed Set (1st Edition)
2nd Edition (2018)
The 2nd Edition of the game was released in July 2018. The new Kill Team takes the stuff we know you love – deep squad customisation, narrative progression and development, low model counts – and marries it to cutting-edge rules design, bringing in the team behind Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire to ensure the ruleset is as tight and balanced as possible.[3]
- Starter Set: Kill Team: The Boxed Set (2nd Edition)
3rd Edition (2021)
The 3rd Edition for the game was released in 2021.[2] The rules have been reimagined from the ground up: Stealth and positioning are every bit as important as shooting; Your units’ datacards are changing, showing off what your operatives can do in more detail than ever before. Front-line troopers can act with comrades, nimble fighters can dodge incoming fire, and powerful soldiers can even perform more actions in a turn than lesser beings; commanders take alternating turns to activate each of their operatives. No longer will one player have to withstand the full fury of their foe’s assault before getting to respond; The kill teams themselves are highly customisable. Each model can be equipped with weapons to match different specialisations within their roster.[4]
- Launch Box set: Kill Team: Octarius
