Yrrthilien Mournsong is the only survivor of Craftworld Muirgaythh, destroyed by the forces of Slaanesh.[1]

History

From an early age, Yrrthilien showed a great talent for the art of music. On many occasions he would sit in the ancient halls of his home, the Craftworld of Muirgaythh, playing songs of great passion and emotion to a captive audience. As he grew older his talent blossomed as the greatest poets and songwriters in Eldar civilization came to perform alongside him, teaching him all that they themselves had learned from their ancestors. Yrrthilien came to be worshiped as one of the greatest musicians ever to have lived, but deep inside he was unhappy. The proud young Eldar wanted to see the world beyond his ancestral home and seek a life of adventure. Yrrthilien soon took on the role of a scout, a role that would give him the life he craved for, sending him on a journey that would take him to the furthest reaches of the galaxy.[1]

For a number of years he traveled throughout the galaxy, struck with the wanderlust that took him to many strange worlds where he sang great and powerful songs to their inhabitants, learning their tongues and dialects in return. All the while he would write songs and poems of his adventures to take back to his home and family. Eventually the life of adventure he sought, began to lose its luster and he longed to return home to Muirgaythh. Turning his small scout ship into the solar winds, he began the long journey home. When he arrived instead of receiving the hero's welcome he thought he would see, his Craftworld was silent. Looking around Yrrthilien saw no sign of life, until on the floor before him lay the body of an Eldar Guardian, his body broken and bloody. As he looked further he saw more bodies scattered around the area.[1]

With tears coming to his eyes Yrrthilien began to sing. He sang as he walked alone through the ancient Craftworld; he did not stop singing even when he saw the destroyed areas of his youth or when he saw the symbol of Slaanesh scrawled in blood on the shattered remains of a once great Wraithguard. For days on end he sang as he walked through his desecrated home, until finally in despair he began to return to his ship. On his way back something caught his eyes and made him turn, a faint glow coming from the smashed portal of the Dome of Crystal Seers. Moving towards the light, he was amazed to find an unbroken waystone attached to an ancient armoured suit and beside it a long curved sabre. Yrrthilien recognized these ancient artifacts as the Ancestral Armour and The Moon Sabre of Thilienn, used by his father and his father's father in times of war. He carefully put the armour on, but when he placed the helm on his head a scream of ancient eldritch power filled the Craftworld and the boy who was once Yrrthilien became merged with the memories of his ancestors, he was no longer just Yrrthilien, he became Yrrthilien Mournsong of the lost Muirgaythh.[1]

At that instance he wanted nothing more than to join his kinsmen in death's embrace, but he knew with his death all would be lost. There would be no stories, no hero's songs, there would be no trace of his Craftworld. He vowed that he would fight in the name of Muirgaythh until he could join them in an honourable death. Since that time he has become so devoured by his grief and rage that he cannot leave the warrior path. He has become an Exarch of his own personal Warrior Aspect. He now wonders the galaxy offering his services to any Eldar commander worthy of his attention. In battle he can be seen riding his custom jetbike, The Screaming Gale and wielding the Moon Sabre, all while singing of his kinsmen's death. For when he finally does meet his end, he will make sure none will forget the tragedy of Muirgaythh.[1]
