Zacherys was a Librarian of the Avenging Sons Chapter, attached to the Third Company.[1]

History
When the Third Company was fighting on Archimedon, they were charged with defending a crucial space port. Captain Gessart, guided by one of Zacherys's visions, decided to destroy the port rather than attempt to secure it and likely die in the process. Gessart was censured for his actions and the Third Company, including Zacherys, were assigned to a penance patrol.[1]
During the patrol, the Third Company attempted to assist Imperial authorities on Helmabad with putting down an anti-Imperial uprising, only to be isolated and slowly ground down. Zacherys also brought grave news to Gessart: the rebels were trying to open a warp rift. Faced with the possibility of defeat, followed by death at the hands of warp denizens or further censure, Gessart went rogue and forsook the Imperium. He abandoned Helmabad along with those Space Marines loyal to him (including Zacherys), leaving the system aboard the Strike Cruiser Vengeful and set course for the Eye of Terror.[1]
Zacherys was forced to act as the ship's Navigator, opening his mind to the Warp.[1][2] This resulted in his partial possession by a Daemon known as Messenger.[2]

Zacherys's chosen weapon was a force sword.[1]
