Zerberyn was a member of the Fists Exemplar during the War of the Beast.[1]

Overview

Acting as First Captain of the Chapter aboard the Battle Barge Dantalion, during the war he was forced to align himself with Warsmith Kalkator in order to fend off a massive Ork fleet. Upon meeting up with Tempestus Scions who attempted to fire on his reluctant Iron Warriors allies, Zerberyn was forced to kill his Human allies, seemingly condemning himself further to damnation.[1]

He was later seen in the Immitis System fighting Ork forces alongside the Iron Warriors. After his confidant Mandek died, Zerberyn began to lose his last remaining doubts over the heresy of their actions.[2] Zerberyn next appeared alongside his Iron Warriors allies in an attempt to acquire an Astropathic station. After the Inquisition discovered they were working alongside Chaos Space Marines, a battle broke out.[3]

When he learned that The Beast had been defeated, Zerberyn rendezvous with his Black Templar allies and attempted to explain that the Iron Warriors of Kalkator be allowed to leave in peace due to their contributions to the war effort. However the Black Templars led by High Marshal Bohemond would have none of it, and many of his own Fists Exemplar brethren rebelled as well at the prospect of opposing the Imperium. In a subsequent battle with the Black Templars, Zerberyn was faced with killing either Bohemond or Kalkator and ultimately chose the former. With no other choice left, he kneeled before Kalkator and pledged himself to the Iron Warriors.[4]
