Overview
Born into a noble family, VanLeskus is the product of generations of hard-jawed leaders of Humanity. Born on the world of Vodine Sergastae, she began her career as a General of its PDF. Over thirty years ago, she lost an eye in a xenos assassination attempt and now has a bionic one in its place which devices her a pitiless demeanor. Combined with her natural height and strength, she has cowed generals and entitled Groupmasters of Fleet Tertius. Even before the summons from Roboute Guilliman when rumors of the Crusade fleets' organizing began, she began strategising and organizing many within her senior command for the coming effort. Guilliman became aware of these activities. Guilliman became aware of her activities and, satisfied no less with her record than with her ambition, granted VanLeskus command of Fleet Tertius. The newly appointed fleetmaster used her authority to recruit specialists who she knew would work well for her plans. These included intuitive logisticians, troubleshooting Munitorum agents and radical Magi Enginarium, as well as far less orthodox operatives.2
Her planning soon paid off, for she was able to quickly defeat a Chaos fleet which threatened the Sol System. Embarking on the Indomitus Crusade with five of Fleet Tertius' Battlegroups, she led assaults into the Systems of the Machorta Sound, absorbing stranded and beleaguered assets as she advanced. In the Battle of Machorta Sound she waged an extensive campaign across several light years against the forces of Chaos. During this first blooding of the Indomitus Crusade, she conducted intricate and simultaneous operations with a wide variety of forces at her disposal and scored an early decisive victory.2
