Paragon is known to raise Imperial Guard Regiments known simply as the Paragonian Regiments, many of which are armoured or mechanised units, including companies of Super Heavy Tanks.1a2a
The inhabitants of Paragon refer to the planet their moon orbits as the Mater Maxima. The moon's heraldic colours are purple and white.1a
History
Years & Seasons
The moon takes roughly two Terran years to orbit Paragon VI. Due to the fact that Paragon is a moon orbiting a gas giant, its orbital path results in an unusual progression of local seasons.1i
For 23 months, Paragon is hidden from its sun by its parent planet, resulting in a Long Winter. After this eclipse is over, warmth returns to Paragon with the Glory Seasons, known as Growth, Little Summer, Second Growth, Little Fall and Little Winter. The Glory repeats once before Paragon is plunged into the cold of the Long Winter once more. Technically Long Winter is made up of five individual seasons, but most Paragonians don't bother differentiating them.1i
Beneath the Clans are a number of lower classes.1a Unlike some other Imperial worlds, these lower classes are still pure humans; mutants on Paragon are rounded up and incinerated.1b
The ruler of Paragon is also the ruler of the planet Paragon VI, and is styled as the Planetary Commander. Known commanders include Gondanick Lo Materiak, who ruled Paragon in the late 300395s.M41.1a
Paragon is among those Imperial worlds where duelling is allowed under certain circumstances, the exact details of which are given in the Paragonian constitution. Duels are permitted between any two men of equal rank as long as the man who issues the challenge has a valid licence (which must be ratified by at least two members of recognised enforcement agencies); if the challenge is accepted then, regardless of the duel's outcome, neither participant will face any legal consequences.1h
