Warpsurges are relatively small yet frequently appearing Warp Storms unique to the Caligari Sector. They appear mostly without any warning, and they can last for an indeterminable amount of time. These surges are always confined to specific Warp Routes, and they can cut off entire systems or in extreme cases even large part of a Subsector. Warpsurges can dissipate in mere days, but occasionally they linger for decades or even longer periods of time.[1]

Specific regions of the Caligari Sector are more prone to the manifestation of Warpsurges while others remain relatively safe. These more volatile regions are referred to as "storm zones". It is unknown why Warpsurges are focused to specific parts of the sector. Despite the fervent research of the Navigator Guilds and the dedicated Adeptus Mechanicus groups in the local systems, the nature of the Warpsurges remain a mystery.[1]
